On 17th June 2025, the Smart City Living Lab at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kakinada Institute of Engineering and Technology (KIET) at the KIET Campus.

This collaboration supports the Kakinada Smart City Mission and will establish a Smart City Lab at KIET, extending its benefits to the city of Kakinada. The initiative aims to bridge academia, government, and technology to create smarter, more sustainable cities.

Key Activities Planned:

• Use KIET campus as a testbed for deploying and validating real-world smart city technologies.
• Collaboratively identify and execute impactful urban projects aligned with the Lab’s mission.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing through workshops, expert-led sessions, and hands-on training.
• Provide student internships and research-based learning opportunities.
• Support the long-term vision of deploying smart technologies across Kakinada.

This marks the beginning of a promising partnership between IIIT-H’s Smart City Living Lab, KIET, and the local government to bring scalable, real-world smart city solutions to Kakinada.
